The Colombia Women in Peace Foundation

It contributes to the strengthening of the human rights of women and social leaders or defenders of rights through their visibility and strengthening.

Achieving total peace in Colombia implies eliminating any type of violence against this population, even in the most remote territories. For us it is essential to provide advice to create opportunities for a dignified life, security, income, education and real and peaceful projects for this population.

Supporting total peace in Colombia implies combating inequalities in society, seeking the inclusion and participation of all.

Behind every woman and every human rights defender we find a family. This family must be protected. No one should be exposed to violence in the midst of the peace process.

With film documentaries, projects in the field, articles and lectures at Colombian and German universities on the victims of the armed conflict and other forms of violence, we raise awareness in society and help to prevent future violence.

To this goal, it is essential to generate opportunities for decent income and formal education. Women and leaders require economic independence and participation in the political and social decisions of their homes, villages, municipalities and countries. To this goal, it is necessary to advance political strengthening programs that lead this population to consider itself as a subject of rights.

Mission
The foundation contributes to strengthening the rights of women and women leaders for the construction of peace in the country. We are committed and work to achieve equal conditions that allow women to live a dignified, equal and autonomous life.
Vision
The foundation will take a leading role in strengthening women's human rights and preventing violence against women. The joint collaboration between Germany and Colombia will raise awareness in both societies through documentaries and projects for the prevention of violence against women. This will improve the lives of women in the short, medium and long term.

How to achieve our Goal

To achieve empowerment, independence and violence prevention, women need real attention and opportunities. The creation and organization of a Women's Support Network and advice on business creation and product dissemination play an important role.

Access to the labor market and the security of maintaining a job is fundamental to their empowerment. Women are subjects of rights and require economic independence, as well as a voice and vote in political and social decisions that affect their home, their village, their community, their municipality and their country.

11 Foundation activities

Carry out consultancies to prepare diagnoses, research and public policy proposals on women in vulnerable situations and particular contexts such as rural areas, post-conflict, displacement, violence, street dwellers, family members of persons deprived of liberty, among others.

Organize, promote and participate in activities related to the promotion of peace and human rights, attention to victims of armed conflict, strengthening and empowerment of Colombian women and their families.

Violence prevention, gender equality, eradication of inequality and stigmatization.

Provide counseling to women in situations of domestic violence and other violence, crisis intervention and basic needs law.

Empowerment of women and girls through body expression, Aikido, Yoga and Thai Chi.

Education and employment counseling, strengthening entrepreneurship processes, creation or improvement of microenterprises, product dissemination, linking entrepreneurs with SENA*. (National Apprenticeship Service)

Produce audiovisual productions and short films in collaboration with Colombian audiovisual production companies.

Visibilization of women victims of the conflict and in vulnerable situations through documentaries.

Raising awareness of German and Colombian society through scientific articles and the media.

Cooperation mechanisms with national and international entities to promote training, documentation, visibility and protection of women in vulnerable situations.

Solidarity support in difficult times: donations of grocery supplies, clothing, building materials and money for families in vulnerable situations.
